Joining the Association
Eligibility
Membership of the British Section of the
Association is, subject to the approval of the National Council, open to
all serving and retired (on full or medical pension) members of any
civil Police Service, the interpretation of which is given in the
Rules
of the British Section.
Ordinary membership shall be open to:
a) Any serving or retired Police Officer of the Police Services shown
Here.
b) Members of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary.
c) Serving members of the Special Constabulary of the Police Services
listed Here
and members of the Special Constabulary who have resigned on
reaching age limit or on health grounds.
d) Any other serving or retired Police Officer of a Police Service whose
application is approved by the National Council.
Associate Membership may be granted to a
serving or retired Police Officers of a Police Service where Sections of
the Association do not yet exist.
Extraordinary membership may be granted
to the spouse of a deceased member, upon application of such spouse
through Branch and Region for endorsement by the National Executive
Committee.

How to Join -
APPLICATION FORM
You may join the Rochdale and District
Branch using the
application form which is transmitted via a secure server at the
British HQ. Alternatively, you can request an application form which
will be mailed to your postal address. Email
our Secretary
Joining fee.
£25 is due immediately and for admin reasons must be paid by Direct
Debit. Your account will be debited within 6-21 days from your date of
enrolment. This is a one-off payment.
Members joining between 1st July - 30th
September will pay half price joining fee. Members joining between 1st
October and 31st December do not pay the renewal fee on the first
immediate 1st January following enrolment.
Renewal fee.
£22 is due on 1st January. This is an annual payment.
Once a member – What happens?
Your application will be processed within
a day or two of receipt at the British Section HQ. You will be sent a
Welcome Pack to your mailing address. This will contain your IPA
membership Card, a lapel badge, the most recent edition of Police World,
a full list of current membership services and contact details, and
information regarding your local branch committee. Rochdale Branch will
be informed of your enrolment within a week or so and contact should
follow shortly after, but feel free to take the initiative if there’s a
delay, by contacting us. Thereafter, you will receive Police World
magazine on a bi-monthly basis, as well as any information produced by
your region and branch.
Your membership card will allow access to
all the club's other facilities, for example the Travel Form Scheme, for
reserving IPA Houses, discounted services etc. You will often be asked
to produce it, either in person or as a scanned/photocopied version when
making requests or attending IPA events.
